I had finally found the perfect table for our hallway on Craiglist: it was the perfect size, had the cutest scalloped details and cost next to nothing! The only problem was the paint. It looked a little tired and had a few chips here and there and needed a refresh. Thankfully, there is a quick and easy way to fix that. In fact, it’s so quick and easy that I did this on a weeknight after work: spray paint!
Here’s how to refresh old furniture the quick and easy way with spray paint:
Step 1: Prep
Clean your furniture and lightly sand it if needed. In my case, I started out with a few chips so I wanted to even those areas out as much as possible.
Step 2: Paint
Find a well ventilated area (preferably outside) and shake your spray can vigorously! Begin by spraying a thin coat of paint on your piece of furniture. Depending on the spray paint you’re using dry times can vary. I typically wait a few minutes in between coats. A few years ago, I learned the hard way that multiple very thin coats are better than very few very thick coats 🙂
Step 3: Enjoy
I left my table outside to dry overnight before placing it in its new spot. Here are a few before and after pictures:
I hope you enjoyed this quick overview on how to refresh old furniture the quick and easy way with spray paint. I really love how much cleaner this table looks after just a few coats of spray paint!
