After over two years of analysis paralysis, DIYing, and mostly procrastinating … the hallway bathroom is finally done! Here’s how it looked back in 2022 when we first bought the Hills House:

We replaced the toilet and the carpet (who ever thought that was a good idea in a bathroom?) with some cute peel and stick tile almost right away. We also removed the wallpaper within the first few months.
After that, it looked pretty bad still but better than before. For a while, we didn’t make any more changes to the hallway bathroom. We had so many other projects around our home that took priority. It also took me some time to decide what I wanted this hallway bathroom to look like – until last winter! That’s when we painted the walls using my favorite white paint color for walls: Sherwin Williams Alabaster. We also finally tiled the floor using gray and white checkered tiles.
I love how the DIY checkered tile floor turned out!
All that was left at that point was installing the new vanity, mirror, light fixture and the DIY wall trim!
Hallway Bathroom Tour
You know I love a fun bathroom remodel! Without further ado, here’s the finished hallway bathroom at the Hills House:
I really love how this bathroom turned out!
The checkered floor tile and the picture frame molding are probably my favorite design elements in here. I think the mirror adds some nice warmth to the space!
This room is relatively small. That’s why it’s tricky to capture all the wall trim but I hope these photos help show how much of an impact this box trim has on the overall look of the space!
I like the way the wall trim looks around the door:
Fun fact: I had a very specific vision for the shower curtain and couldn’t find anything that resembled what I envisioned. However, I did find a beautiful quilt by Studio McGee at Target. It had the exact colors and pattern I was looking for. I decided to just make my shower curtain out of that! It was actually easier than it sounds. I just separated the fabric, cut it to size and finished the edges off with some iron-on hemming tape.
Then, I hung it along with the liner in the back using curtain rings with clips:
There was even some fabric left over so I wrapped these little storage boxes in it to match the shower curtain:
These little boxes are some of my favorite things I’ve made recently! Not all DIY projects have to be big. It’s nice to take a little “break” sometimes and work on something smaller like these fabric boxes.
Don’t the faux flowers go so well with the shower curtain, storage boxes and mirror?
I love the way it all ties in together without being too matchy matchy!
I hope you enjoyed this tour of our remodeled hallway bathroom! Feel free to check out my other bathroom renovation posts like the ones about how I installed the checkered floor and the box trim on the walls.
As always, don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions!
