What color is Sherwin Williams Accessible Beige?
Accessible Beige is a beige paint color that is neutral and warm. It has undertones of gray and is sometimes described as a greige. It’s the perfect choice if you want a neutral color that is versatile, works in many different spaces and looks beautiful in all paint sheens.
Here is an example of Sherwin Williams Accessible Beige cabinets (painted in a satin sheen):

Agreeable Gray vs Accessible Beige
Sherwin Williams Accessible Beige is kind of like a sister to Sherwin Williams Agreeable Gray which is a gray paint color that is neutral and warm but has undertones of beige. Agreeable Gray is pretty much the opposite of Accessible Beige but similar.
Agreeable Gray leans more toward the cooler side of the color spectrum due to its gray undertones. It’s a great choice for a more contemporary look or farmhouse look.
We used Sherwin Williams Agreeable Gray on the walls at the Califonia Cottage. You can see how the color of Agreeable Gray around the shiplap barn door changes depending on the light and the shadows:
Accessible Beige is warmer than Agreeable Gray. That makes it ideal to create cozy and inviting but also sophisticated and timeless spaces.
What is the LRV of SW Accessible Beige?
The Light Reflectance Value (LRV) of SW Accessible Beige is 58. LRV measures the percentage of light a paint color reflects. It’s measured on a scale from zero (absolute black, absorbing all light and heat) to one hundred (pure white, reflecting all light). This means that Accessible Beige by Sherwin Williams is on the lighter side but much darker than white.
Why is Accessible Beige so popular?
Sherwin Williams Accessible Beige is one of the most popular colors because its a warm neutral greige. Greige in general has been a favored choice, especially for kitchen cabinets over the last few years. Accessible Beige is a sophisticated and timeless shade of greige and looks beautiful in a variety of paint sheens. That makes it perfect for a lot of different spaces and applications!
What are the undertones of Sherwin Williams Accessible Beige?
When you look at Accessible Beige by Sherwin Williams in person, you see a beige with a very light, grayish undertone. A lot of traditional beige paint colors can look yellow or orange and very warm. That is not the case at all with Accessible Beige paint. Accessible Beige looks more neutral and subtle. However, it can be a little bit of a chameleon in my opinion. Depending on the light, it can change its appearance from warmer to cooler. I’ve even seen it have purple/pink or green undertones in certain light and depending on the room.
When should Accessible Beige be used?
Accessible Beige is a great option if you’re looking for a greige paint that pairs well with warmer tones for a cozy and more traditional look in your space.
When should Accessible Beige not be used?
Accessible Beige is not the best option if you’re looking for a greige that pairs well with cooler tones or if you’re looking for a really modern or industrial look in your space.
What colors and materials go with Accessible Beige?
In my homes, I’ve paired Sherwin Williams paint color Accessible Beige with Sherwin Williams Alabaster. They complement each other perfectly and look so beautiful together!
Here’s a couple pictures in natural light of our Accessible Beige door and Accessible Beige baseboards in a semi-gloss finish against our Alabaster walls in an eg-shel finish:
I love how Accessible Beige is a somewhat light color but it’s contrasting enough to make the trim pop against the Alabaster white walls.
I’ve also paired SW Accessible Beige with brass and white oak wood in the Hills House kitchen. Here you can see it with our satin brass kitchen pulls and white oak engineered wood floors:
Our kitchen and living room both face east and Accessible Beige looks lighter there than it does e.g. in our dining room which is a north facing room.
Tips for choosing the best paint color
Personally, I like to take recommendations for paint colors from professional designers. There are a number of colors that are popular and used frequently by interior designers for good reason! Over time, they’ve proven to look beautiful in lots of different spaces. In most cases, there is no need for me to reinvent the wheel and I like to use those popular colors as a starting point. From there, I narrow down my search by looking at the paint swatches. I will typically take home 2-3 color samples to see how the colors are going to look in different lighting situations in my own home. I recommend painting a large cardboard and moving it around to see what the color looks like in different lighting. That’s what I did for the California Cottage exterior paint and we ended up loving our Sherwin Williams Oyster Bay exterior!
