We’ve all been there. You look up at your living room ceiling and see it: that old ceiling fan. The one with the dated wooden blades and dusty pull chains. Ours did its job but it wasn’t exactly in line with the design of the room, especially after the recent living room remodel!

I finally decided it was time for an upgrade, and I’m thrilled with the results! If you’re looking to bridge the gap between functional cooling, airflow and design, let me introduce you to the best of both worlds: the fandelier!
What is a Fandelier?
A fandelier is a hybrid of a chandelier and a ceiling fan!
The magic’s in the design. Most fandeliers feature clear, retractable blades that stay tucked away when the fan is off, leaving you with a beautiful light fixture that mimics a chandelier. When you turn the fan function on, centrifugal force brings the fan blades out to move air just like traditional fan.
Here is our fandelier in action:
Here’s why I think a fandelier is a game changer:
- Style Upgrade: Our old fan felt like a utility. Our new fandelier feels like it’s an intentional part of the living room. Whether you’re going for a minimalist look or something more ornate, it completely changes the room. We also added a ceiling medallion which adds even more character!
- Space-Saving: Because the blades are transparent or hidden, the room feels taller and more open. No more heavy dark blades “cutting” our ceiling short.
- Convenience: Our fandelier came with a remote and even smart-home integration (which we still want to set up!). No more reaching for pull chains. Our two toddlers actually discovered how to work the remote a couple days ago and to them it’s like magic!
- Quiet Performance: I’ve found that our model is really quiet, which is perfect for movie nights or just relaxing with a book on the couch or in our reading nook!
- Light Options: Our model has various light settings which means we can not only dim the light but also set the light to be either a warm white or a cool white.
We’ve had our fandelier for a few weeks now and I couldn’t be happier, it works great! We still get the benefits of a ceiling fan (which we need here in Las Vegas!) while getting a great design addition to our living room.
Thinking of Making the Switch?
The installation was surprisingly straightforward, if you’ve ever swapped out a standard light fixture, you can likely handle this too.
Our fandelier also came mostly assembled so there were only a few parts to put together before installation.
What do you think? Are you team “traditional fan” or are you ready to try a fandelier? Let me know what you think!
